The #BeLeafInWomen Campaign

BC Women’s Health Foundation, in partnership with Maple (Re)Leaf,  is spotlighting the unique mental health experiences of women and promoting the fundraiser through the #BeLeafInWomen campaign.

By  featuring the stories of real women in our community alongside statistics, largely sourced from our Spotlight on Women’s Mental Health, we aim to create dialogue, reduce stigmas, and raise critically needed funds for women’s mental health research and treatment in BC.

Your donation made through the purchase of a Maple Leaf is making a difference in the lives of women across the province. Partial proceeds will be invested in our $4.5 million Reproductive Mental Health Campaign enabling researchers and care providers to develop innovative projects that will improve the experiences of British Columbian women seeking support.

Join the movement on social media by using the hashtags #InvestInWomen + #BeLeafInWomen, while sharing your mental health story and calling for your audience to get involved through the purchase of a Leaf.

About BC Women’s Health Foundation

BC Women’s Health Foundation (BCWHF) is BC’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the full spectrum of women’s health.

Women’s health has historically been sidelined, mostly because it was assumed that it was the same as men’s health. The male body was used as the baseline for all health research, education and, from there, practice. In other words, if we knew something about the biology of men, we assumed that the same applied to women.  All gendered research today tells us this was absolutely wrong.

Our society has yet to prioritize understanding the unique health impacts faced by women. Without adequate research, doctors are not equipped. Without adequate education, the unique healthcare needs of women are not validated.

That’s where BCWHF comes in.

We are dedicated to ensuring women across BC have equitable access to the highest quality healthcare when, where, and how they need it.

When we look to the future, we see a world in which women are seen, heard, and understood by the healthcare system.
